How long does it take to get an ADHD diagnosis?

Hi it’s Blue, I am just wondering how long it took people to get an official diagnosis for adhd. I have been referred for it, I’m just wondering how long it takes approximately. Any advice?

Basically as long as it takes to make the testing appointment. Depending on the doctor that could be a while. But once the assessment is done, it's a pretty fast turn around for results. The doctor will review it and write up their report. Most of the time it's pretty obvious if someone has ADHD. One of the tests was a computer game where you had to click on a certain shape but not click on another. How off your response time is, is one of the things they look for

I did mine through vocational rehabilitation with a psychiatrist I think was his title. It took like 2 hours and he just asked me a bunch of questions but I was diagnosed in 2013 so it might be different now. He told me after the test was done I had ADHD but I already knew.

I feel like I already know I have adhd so I kind of know what you mean. What type of symptoms do you get with adhd?

I can focus to save my life unless I get brain breaks, I have to move because I can't sit still for more then 20 minutes, I can get over stimulated, I fidget, I forget things if I don't use a calendar or write them down. I have alot that is just a few. I also wonder sometimes if I also dont have austim.

I get that. I have to have a calendar or I will double book dates or forget appointments or training days or hair cuts. I write in my journal to get more self aware, I’m late to everywhere I go, whether that’s just spending time with friends or it’s something more serious like work, I loose everything, I find it really difficult to focus and do tasks that need to be done. I’m really outgoing, spontaneous and super productive but then sometimes it can feel like a task to talk and do simple things. With university, I can do work but I leave it at the last possible second. Resulting in me needing an extended deadline. My family says if I started sooner then I would get better grades but I can’t physically or emotionally get myself to do it. Then people call me lazy and then I feel bad about myself because I’m not doing enough. Do you relate?
