Considering cutting out gluten and dairy

Have you ever had to cut out foods? My mom said cutting out both gluten and dairy have helped her, and I’m thinking about doing the same. Any opinions?

I’ve tried cutting out dairy but it didn’t do anything for me. Hopefully it works for you since it worked for unit mom 💕

When I was younger, my family took me to an eastern medicine specialist who recommended cutting out both of those things and more. I was too young (maybe 8) to really feel a difference, and overall just got depressed cause I couldn't eat pizza. Nowadays, even after having stopped the diet for a while, I haven't gone back to it. I'm the only one in my immediate family with a FM diagnosis, but my mom and sister still try to eat less dairy and gluten as they say it helps with their gut and mood. Dunno if your mom has FM, but you two are genetically similar, so it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful... I really can't give up pizza. 😅

My mom has both FM and EDS too, and she’s not really committed to her diet. She loves Jack in the box tiny tacos. But other than that she feels like it works. She looks a lot healthier, her face isn’t as slimmed out and her eyes aren’t as dark, but that might be because of the amount of sleep she’s gotten after quitting her job.

It can help a bit, but you gotta ask yourself if limiting what you eat is worth it. I know I personally had to stop myself from being too particular about what I eat before I got diagnosed, just so I could have a healthier relationship with food and my body overall, but if you're willing to give unhealthy food up for the boost it might give you, give it a try.

I tried doing gluten free based on my rheumatologist's suggestion, but it didn't do anything. However, I started a ketogenic diet based on a different doctor's suggestion and I feel like a whole different person. I can tell a significant difference in my pain levels.
