Dealing with a Possible Bipolar 2 Diagnosis

I was just told I might have bipolar 2. I just don't know if it's true and what that means for me. What is the best way to deal with this and how do I know for sure?

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 about 8 years ago after several years of misdiagnoses (major depressive, anxiety, bpd). What I found really helpful with understanding the differences in diagnoses was talking with a therapist/psychiatrist who is specifically knowledgeable about mood disorders and psychosis, AND being extremely honest about describing my feelings and moods. It really helps to be able to verbally process and understand your moods and feelings, It helped me be able to notice the difference between having a manic episode and feeling happy or anxious, or between having a depressive episode and just being tired from over-activity/stimulation. Finding the right therapist can be really tough, so I’ve also found it helpful to engage with other people diagnosed with bipolar 2 who share your experiences (I usually go to Reddit, but there’s all kinds of other online support groups!)
