Concerns about Dental Implants with High White Blood Count

I have been on watch and wait since 2012 and have a white blood count of 26,000 that varies little. My oncologist does not want to see me any more, but I have blood work done routinely. Are dental implants safe?

Hey there! Just wanted to quickly share my thoughts with you. I've heard that dental implants could trigger an immune or hypersensitivity reaction, especially if your white blood cells are already high. So, I think it might be worth checking with the dental facility to make sure it's all good and safe for you. Sending you lots of love and positivity!

I am in the process of getting an implant. Chemo destroyed my teeth. (A side effect I was unaware of) My dental team required clearance from my oncologist before they would begin.

@Mimi4 Hi! Best wishes with your implant. How long have you been off of treatment?

When you state "your oncologist doesn't want to see you anymore" do you mean forever? Also, never heard anything about WBC effecting dental implants.

@Lanie12 Always a great idea to share your CLL diagnosis and WBC with your dentist? Also if you had an oncologist I would suggest you ask them this question as they would be able to best answer it. Would the one you're seeing reply?

My wbc count hovers around 56,000 before and after and I have had an implant for three years with no issues
