Struggling to Work with EDS

How many people work full time with EDS? I’m struggling to keep up with my work and I don’t know how much longer I can keep working.

Can you help? Connect today

I work full time as a teacher. It isn’t easy and I definitely haven’t been doing as well as I feel I should be. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to do it but I still am.

I’ve never had the energy to work more than part time and now I’m applying for disability because I can’t even work that much, some people can hack it, some can’t. I’m at the point I want to try and get myself a reclining folding wheelchair so I can go out for more than the small outings my cane can keep me semi comfortable for. Every zebra is different though, don’t fear mobility aids if they would help you, remember you can ask for reasonable accommodations, and don’t beat yourself up about it if eventually you have to leave work for your future health.

Up until 3 years ago, I worked full-time along with being a wife and Mom to two kids. It’s definitely not easy. I’m not sure what type of job you have but is there anyway to go part time? Also, prioritize and learn to say “no” within reason, stick to a schedule, practice self-care and don’t be afraid to ask for help, even if it means applying for disability and changing gears. Hang in there 💜

I work full time in an animal shelter. Taking breaks, making sure I decompress, having a boss who knows I'm not in controll of my bad days. Also, lots of compression braces, pain meds, and some dark humor

Sigil - I was a vet tech for 10 years, what part of the animal shelter do you work with?
