My Dr did what was then called a 12 point test I was positive for 11 of them. I had the same problems for about 10 years before doctors started calling it fibro.

I told my pain management doctor about a side effect after a radio frequency ablation procedure that I've been getting every several months and he said it's a rare side effect, but usually his fibro patients are the ones that he that. Also, since I take longer to recover and the pain is more intense during recovery for me, he was pretty positive I had fibro.

My neurologist knew it right away. He said he only needs to run some tests because it’s part of the protocol, but it’s probably fibromyalgia. He understood that after I described my symptoms and the test results I have.

Completely by accident. After years of we visits and neurologist and doctors of all kinds I gave up. One neurologist told me it was all in my head and after walking from his office crying I decided he must be right. I fought my condition on my own...telling myself it wasn't real for a couple more years. Then one day I was visiting one of my younger sisters. She had a doctor's appointment that day. She had been recently diagnosed with fibro and rheumatoid arthritis and placed on some new meds. This was a check up to see how she was doing. So no big deal really. Well, I went with her. Her doctor is asking question after question about her pain her mind etc. At one point the doctor stops talking mid-sentence. She just stared holes in me. That went on for like a full minute m finally the discomfort got to me and i asked "why are you looking at me like that?" I have to admit it was unnerving. She (the doctor for my sister) tips her head a little, looking me up and down. Then she says; "every time I ask your sister here about a symptom you get a strange expression on your face." It wasn't a question it was a statement of what she saw. So I said "yea so?" She said. "Your sister has given permission for me to speak freely about her condition with you so I'm going to ask straight out. Did you know that her condition is often hereditary?" So I said what condition are you talking about? She then asks me a few questions about my body and my pain etc. She says by your expression and your answers I'm telling you now that you also have fibromyalgia. I literally laughed her face!! I told her nope according to all the doctors I've been to there is nothing wrong with me. It's all in my head. It's will power and I already know that so I'll deal with it. She then informed me about some of my other symptoms and that doctors often are hesitant to diagnose fibromyalgia because it's difficult to prove. That's why I had been turned away so many times.

My neurologist new after my surgeries I was still having insane difficulty with physical functions and pt never worked for me. Only made it worse. I went to a rheumatologist and he did the 12point trigger test and I had everyone so it was concluded in 2017-18 that after all treatment failed...I officially had fibromyalgia. My 2 sisters and mother have it also.
