Experiencing New Fibromyalgia Symptoms on One Side of My Body

I’m wondering what kind of fibromyalgia symptoms everyone else gets? For the last few weeks, I’ve been getting some different symptoms but only on my right side. It feels like someone keeps pouring hot water over my right foot and my right hand keeps feeling achy around my middle, ring, and pinky fingers when I try to grip anything. The pain in my hand comes and goes. I’m guessing this is some kind of neuropathic pain, but they’re new to me. Does this sound like your experience with fibromyalgia?

Hi! I get both of these quite regularly with my fibro! I refer to the hot water as burning patches, I have even had people tell me that the site of the pain is physically hot as well as me just feeling it 😅 I also get really bad aching pains in my arms/hands and legs/feet. For the burning patches sometimes cooling the area down will an ice pack can help but sometimes any contact is too painful so be careful. I have heard that cooling sprays can be effective! Haven't tried it myself, but one of my friends uses one! As for the achy feeling I've never really found something that helps unfortunately, but I do think this is triggered by the cold weather, its always worse then. I hope you find a way to manage both of them!

“Burning patches” is a good way to describe it! It’s really difficult to describe a lot of the types of pain, which, I think, sometimes makes it more difficult to find other people who have them. It is quite cold where I live right now, so that makes sense as a trigger too!

My pain is a little different, though it's changed over the years periodically, but also always has been on my right side.

It’s interesting that it’s only on our right sides. I get migraines too and they are always on the left side, just to confuse things 😆

Yes, it does sound like fibromyalgia. It presents so differently in each person, but pain and neuropathy are extremely common.

Yeah, I think the fact it presents so differently makes it more difficult to compare experiences, in a way. I’m pretty sure this is fibromyalgia but it’s difficult to find others who have the same types of pain as me, which leads to me questioning if my experience is even valid (it is - but I just have to keep reminding myself of this) 😄
