Service dogs are technically free in the US. You can use any breed of dog, and even train them yourself. There is no legal registration for service dogs in the US and people unfortunately knowingly/unknowingly get scammed by registration companies to get “paperwork” or “licensing”. You may want to look up some charities or programs that there may be if you are looking for an already trained service dog. However, you will have to do some training specialized to you at some point.

There are programs for free service dogs in the us but they are a tad tricky. Takes lots of time to find the right one, but it’s worth the tine.

There’s free programs for people who were in the military with PTSD but I’ve never seen them for free outside of that. I have seen ones that attempt to help you get it for free by accepting donations from people but those ones often state that their dogs will still end up being a couple thousand because not enough people donate money to be able to give them for free. Often times those ones that do give for free/partially paid for have 5+ year waiting lists.
