Prozac and Abilify: Anyone Else Tried This Combo?

My new doctor recently prescribed Prozac. I took the same dose (20mg) a few years ago. It was the first antidepressant I tried. I mentioned it had not worked well for me then, but she seemed to think that because she was adding Abilify, things would be different. I guess my question is, has anyone else tried Prozac with Abilify after having just Prozac alone not work well, and what were your experiences?

I cannot provide a personal experience, but one user mentioned that they were on Lexapro and recently added Abilify, which helped them a lot. However, this combination is different from Prozac with Ab...See More

I have. It was for a short period back in like 2013. I don't recall how it went. I just remember being ok for a while then getting off for some reason. I was off and on meds at that time in my life not trusting the doctors and also using mj . Fast forward to 2019 and abilify had me restless and pacing around and just couldn't sit still at home. However this time I think I was on Wellbutrin with abilify. Wellbutrin does increase anxiety and agitation so that makes sense. Not certain if I was taking prozac at that time with the Wellbutrin. I did however get on prozac while still taking Wellbutrin for less than a year in 2022. That seemed to work well for depression, anxiety, and irritability. Prozac was to offset anxiety and agitation from Wellbutrin.

Thanks for the comments. Honestly, I don't know why I got off of the Prozac a couple of years ago. It could have been that my doctor didn't think I was making enough progress, or it could have been some other reason. That doctor wasn't really the greatest, as she would often switch up my dosages and medications, making three or four changes in one go all effective immediately. So that makes it really hard to know what are my symptoms improving or not improving, and what are side effects from the medications, and whatever. I trust this new doctor a lot more because she's taking things slowly, I just wondered if anyone else had been through this and had an experience to share.

I tried abilify with Lexapro and it was terrible. I can't speak on behalf of the Prozac part, but I know for me at least, I learned that abilify was the problem, not my Lexapro
