Concerta is an extended release form of methylphenidate. it gets released slowly over a long period of time for about 11 hours. Ritalin is a short acting form that lasts for about 5 hours.

Hi Jess, I’ve been taking both Concerta and Ritalin for some time now. (1) Concerta in AM, then (1) Ritalin in PM. This seems to be working well for me.
