Struggling with Sensory Issues and Job Opportunities

certain clothing fabrics and materials, (example Denim) seem to bother my skin and it sometimes makes me feel like I'm losing job opportunities due to it as some jobs seem to have dress codes like I understand that sometimes but due to my Autism spectrum disorder I have a lot of sensory problems can anyone else relate

Hi, my son had a similar problem and it was indeed not easy to find a solution. There are several options that we have tried and maybe one of them can help you. The first option was to practice walking with those clothes at home in a comfortable environment where he can take them off whenever he wants, little by little he was able to get used to some of the fabrics. With jeans, for example, we let him wear cotton pants underneath that would buffer between his body and the pants. Although he was a bit hot with them, it worked. Have you tried these methods?

That cheap velveteen, like fair prize stuffed animals for example, causes a toothache for me. I end up hand flapping or going meeeyaeeehh!! As a response lol. I have a blanket with some on it and I have to flip it upside down and use it as a sheet instead.
