Should I Disclose My EDS to My Boss?

Should I tell my boss that I have EDS, or just keep dealing with it without saying anything?

I’m still waiting to get diagnosed, but I was open with my boss about the chronic pain I have and he worked with me to figure out accommodations that worked for both of us. It made my job so much easier.

I would tell. Like rj.crow said, accommodations can help tremendously. On a personal note, my granddaughter (age 11) is waiting for an EDS evaluation in September. This is all new to us and I do not know what to expect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have chronic pain conditions and told my old boss. He worked with me and gave me what I needed to help.

If you're in the US they legally have to give you accommodations bc of the Americans with Disablities Act. However, if something happens and you need accommodations in the moment, they aren't obligated to give you anything if you haven't properly disclosed your illness/disability. So yes, I definitely recommend you tell your boss! Go through the proper HR channels if needed, they might want a doctor's note validating your diagnosis and/or need. Whatever your jobs' process is just follow the steps and I'm sure they will be happy to offer accommodations that will help you do your job effectively and safely

Its up to you. Depends on how close you are to your boss and work dynamics. You will want to be clear with what accommodations you are seeking, rather than a blanket statement that might imply you want more leniency but aren't clear. From your employer's standpoint.
