My Therapy Intake Experience: Finally Feeling Heard

I almost want to cry right now. I've been crying off and on most of the day because of how my therapy appointment went. It was just my intake, but I have never felt so seen by a therapist before. She genuinely seemed to want to hear what I was saying, and didn't look at me like I was just another case for her to solve. I've brought up a possible personality disorder with so many therapists in the past, and every single one has shot it down. I didn't even bring it up this time, but when I was explaining my inability to socialize at work she asked if I had ever considered the possibility of a personality disorder. And then she told me that it seems like I have a social phobia, but that's something we can work on. For the first time, it felt like someone was genuinely understanding of what I was trying to say. Not just listening and coming to their own conclusions on what I meant.
