My experience with trigger point injections for TMJ

For my tmj we tried a trigger point injections for the fourth time. This time, we tried it with a stronger local anesthetic called Bupivicaine. The procedure took four pokes in total inside and out of my mouth in my masseter muscle. It definitely stung more, and i feel like I can’t open my mouth as much as I used to. Thank god it’s temporary, but I think this isn’t the route for me. Btw I have a high pain tolerance, but my tmj has been going on for 3 yrs and I can’t drive or go to college until I’m treated.

I've tried physical therapy and dry needling and those seemed to help some. It's not necessarily something that always gives immediate relief but I did notice improvement the more consistently I went (about twice a week every week for several months) along with the continued at home exercises and a night guard to prevent grinding in my sleep.
