Selective IgM immunodeficiency

by Alike Medical Team ∙ Updated on June 13, 2023

General

Selective IgM deficiency is an immune system condition in which the person lacks immunoglobulin M, while all other immunoglobulin levels are normal. Immunoglobulin M is a protein that is part of the immune system. This condition is rare, and may occur as a primary condition (on its own), or combined with other conditions (more commonly). People with selective IgM deficiency tend to suffer from other autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
