Hormonal birth control pills helped my period to go from super heavy to normal/light, and I know it has this effect for lots of people

Are you on any birth control? I tried a lot of oral birth controls starting at age 13 cause I had heavy painful periods and would bleed alll month. None worked. Ultimately the only thing that’s helped control the bleeding was my IUD, but that’s a big commitment and even after I got it I spotted for months while my “body was getting used to it” as the doctor put it. To stop the bleeding they gave me progesterone pills, which is a hormone, I don’t know if thats an option but taking hormones can come with not so fun side effects as well. I also have suspected endometriosis or adenomyosis which can be factors for prolonged bleeding.

I had a hard period for 49 days straight. Ended on what would’ve been day 50. I went to a gynecologist for the first time a couple days ago and they want to insert an IUD instead of pills bc it (birth control) interferes with my seizure meds. But due to being sexually assaulted and being in a domestic violence relationship last year, they didn’t want to put me through that trauma again so they are doing it at a surgery center and putting me completely under. But at first I was on birth control. I was on Larissa for awhile and it seemed to work for my irregular periods (just not my epilepsy).

My periods used to be heavy like that for 3+ months at a time. My first period I ever got lasted almost 3 years (I was too scared to go to a doctor or tell anyone). They were irregular like that from 2007-2021. I lost more than 10% of my body weight in the last year (was 310 now I’m 266) and stopped taking hormonal birth control and I finally have a normal period. It’s so much easier said than done tho, I understand.
