Is My Obsession with Shows and Merch Connected to ADHD?

So my whole life my sister has criticized me getting attached to shows/movies/creators etc extremely fast. I buy tons of merch associated with little things i am obsessed with. Could this be connected to my ADHD or am i just insane?

Can you help? Connect today

Seems like your hyperfixating on stuff. Totally normal adhd thing and you shouldnt be shamed for it. As long as your not going bankrupt i see no reason for family to have to insert themselves. Keep doing what makes you happy and screw the other noise.

That is a totally normal thing to do when you have ADHD. If it isn't hurting you, then it's really none of your sister's business. This sounds like a her problem.

Oh my god. This is me. Yeah. That's totally your ADHD. It's just hyperfixation, totally normal. We become attatched to and obsessed with things very quickly. I have a cycle of TV shows that I hyperfixate on. I usually do for a few months and then burn out until something about it piques my interest again. Rinse and repeat. It's becauae your brain had a hard time maintaining interest in things so when it finds something that keeps your focus it doesn't know what to do with itself and wants more of that feeling. I mean...more or less that's what is happening. I have like...over 100 pages of fanfiction open in my phone, sorted by fandom and theme. My sister gets obsessed just like I do but no one else in our families do and so does my best friend. Maybe it means I don't connect very well with people not like me but that doesn't mean that I'm wrong for doing it. Your sister needs to chill out, that is such a dumb thing to criticize someone for.
