Can ADHD cause sensory issues?

Currently in the process of getting an adhd assessment to see if that's what I have. Can ADHD give you sensory issues? I had to get an assessment for autism and didn't have it so I'm wondering if this is the right thing to be looking into

For sure, that’s actually why my therapist got me to get assessed! I had an extensive assessment (12 hours 💀) where they had tested for autism and adhd. The person who did it said I had all the symptoms of adhd, but that I didn’t have it. My therapist advocated for me though, and I ended up getting diagnosed with it, so don’t get discouraged if they say you don’t have it. Second opinions are always an option, and getting a therapist with adhd helps a ton with understanding your symptoms!

Absolutely! ADHD often has sensory issues associated with it and is frequently comorbid with sensory processing disorder when it’s more extreme. It’s different for everyone with it, I personally am really sensitive to taste, bright lights, and lots of noise. Good luck on your journey of figuring it out
