Drinking Alcohol with Medications: Is it Safe?

sometimes I drink alcohol with my medications even tho the label says I shouldn't. I always make sure I'm in a safe place when this happens but I also feel guilty like this is going to ruin my health. how do people feel about alcohol and medicating?

Not a good plan. Definitely give it a minimum of a few hours after drinking to take any meds. Alcohol is also a depressant so it can mess with some functions of medications

talk to your psychiatrist or doctor if you want to drink. Some meds, when mixed with alcohol, will only cancel out the medication or make the symptoms of intoxication worse. Others can mix into severe liver damage.

I told my psychiatrist that u drink even though my meds say i shouldn't. His only concern was me getting too drunk too quickly. I told him i pace myself and know my body well. He encoraged me to confine to pace myself if i want to drink. I only drink once a week or so, so he wasn't concerned too much
