Need Help with All Over Body Hives

Hi everyone! I am experiencing all over body hives and we can’t figure out yet if it’s something I am allergic to or an autoimmune issue. Anyone else have something similar?

My sister had this happen to her. We still aren't sure why. Praying you find answers and make sure to give yourself grace. Are you under a lot of stress? That's our current theory for my sister's hives.

I did have to travel for work and that was oversees and super stressful. It did make the hives blow up and get so much worse. I have been back a week and the hives have slowed down, but they are still present.

I don't exactly get hives all over my body. I get hives when I am on grass or cuddling with my dog. When I get hives I wash it wish warm water and soap so next time you have hives maybe take a warm shower. If it doesn't work then please see a doctor. Be safe!

I appreciate that! I’ve had the hives since early January and have been to three doctors for help and relief. Finally got blood work done and there is a possible indication towards an autoimmune disorder. I now have to go to an allergist, dermatologist and rheumatologist to figure out what is going on.

Have you introduced a new food or medication or detergent or anything like that? If it’s not environmental like the things above it could be something else. I have a condition called cold induced urticaria where if my body temp drops too quickly or for too long even if I don’t feel cold I break out in hives and if I don’t warm up the reaction progresses. There are dozens of forms of urticaria (cold, heat, pressure, etc.) it’s usually diagnosed or at least noticed as a kid (I was diagnosed at 2 years old) but if it’s a mild case of the condition or the cause of hives is unknown for a long time diagnosis can be delayed.

Since January, I haven’t introduced anything new. I think it is either a developed allergy of something I use or the autoimmune disorder. I’ve narrowed it down to hair color being one thing that I use a lot that has made my hives worse around the time I went oversees. Do you know if it took your family a long time to diagnose your condition or figure it out?

Any swollen lymph nodes anywhere? If so that's something to point out to a dr.

I got hives on my arm because I had food with a preservative natimicin it’s in shredded cheese and craft cheese, the slices. Have you tried do one of those skin allergy tests. Try also eliminating foods and try not to eat anything with preservatives.

I have an appointment with an allergist next week. I did take an allergy assessment in 2018 and nothing too crazy came back.

I have Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) which is kind of both? Allergic reactions and swelling that can be triggered by stress, hormones, foods etc. It can range from mild to serious and is a rare disease so I'd maybe ask your allergist about it? I think there is blood work that can be done for it and allergy tests themselves don't really help since it can be random. If it's consistent hives I'm not sure but if it's kind of random and makes no sense this is my suggestion. I hope you get an answer soon. It's uncomfortable and scary not knowing why you're having reactions.
