imo if your symptoms have always been present in your life and they're interfering with your quality of life to the point where you're like "hey, this diagnosis feels right to me because it lines up in a number of significant ways" then i think it's unlikely you're faking. i understand where you're coming from, but remember you are not evil, you are not trying to manipulate anyone- you just want help and support. and you deserve those things! it always helps to talk to a therapist about these types of feelings if you have access to one, too. these are big feelings that are not uncommon, and professional support might be the way to go 💚

In my experience, the ones who has imposter syndrome about having ADHD definitely have ADHD. Its a very common process of acceptance and due to the stigma of us being lazy and careless helps fuel that. And hey, a diagnosis doesnt need an immediate answer. Sometimes if you keep it in mind after a while you will realize if you are experiencing symptoms (after learning them) and the time will tell. I wish you the best luck on securing what your diagnosis is.

I feel the same way. I think it’s because ever since I started talking about the possibility of having adhd I have been shut down by whoever. And the social stigma adds to this. Being diagnosed as an adult makes me think about my entire life and wonder why no one suspected it earlier. But just know that I believe you, and you deserve to be believed. You are worthy of the diagnosis and treatment. I hope you find/have found treatment that works for you!
