Seeking advice on Amitryptaline and Xanax withdrawal

After many trials with SSRI’s and Cymbalta that had side effects I couldn’t handle, my doctor prescribed Amitryptaline. I’m nervous to take it… I wish I didn’t have to be on anything. I have been on .5 Xanax for many years and I know it’s bad so I’m trying to wean off. Anything you can share about your experience?

Yes! I also had awful experiences with cymbals and SSRI’s. I did much better with tricyclics and amytriptline is wonderful. At low doses (under 25 mg) I had no side effects, significant reduction in pain, and elevated mood. I also did awful with gabapentin and was scared this would be the same. Happy to report it is not at all similar to that or lyrica!

Thank you so much for your response. I’m so disheartened by this journey. I gained 25 lbs on Cymbalta 30mg and now I’m in a withdrawal phase after 2 weeks because I am so afraid to take anything. I take .5 xanax and spooked myself after finding out it’s actually terrible and can damage your brain.
