Anger and Mental Health: Is There a Connection?

i’ve been having issues with anger usually. is this a side effect of depression/anxiety/ptsd or is it possible there is another condition that hasn’t been diagnosed yet?

I personally have been experiencing this a lot lately. What I have been told is that anger can be a translation of another, more inner feeling. It has been explained to me also, that anger often is from a combination of anxiety and depression.

Anger or irritability? If so it is a symptom. I use meditation, deep breathing and exercise to turn things around.

common in anxiety/panic disorders including ptsd. anger is very very common in ptsd so watch out for triggers when your anger flares up. try to pinpoint where it started/what triggered it. that’ll give you a better idea. if you’re just consistently irritable (w/ no particular triggers), could be your environment, could be stress, depression… etc.

often our trauma can cause us to lash out. it’s a fight-or-flight response that takes a lot of learning to undo and manage. i’d recommend chatting w your psychiatrist to see if any medication adjustments can be made, and if you’re in counseling it might be a good thing to bring up as well!
