Concerns about Antidepressant Efficacy and Side Effects

How do you know if your antidepressants are making your depression worse? I read my information papers and my psychiatric nurse practitioner told me what that looks like. However I also have a lot of life events that would make my depression worse without antidepressants. I started the antidepressants 3 weeks ago, and it takes 4 weeks until depressive symptoms begin to go away on any SSRI usually. tl;dr -> How would I know if the SSRI isn't helping or making my mental health worse in addition to everything?
