Anxiety and Depression: Diagnosis by a Doctor or Psychiatrist?

Is going to a Doctor in a medical clinic being told you have anxiety and depression, a true diagnosis? or must you have to go to a psychiatrist?

Any Dr can diagnose. A psychiatrist just specializes

My clinic told me I had gad and depression. Psych told me it's PTSD and bipolar disorder.

I was diagnosed by my PCP a d then he sent me to a psych for a 2nd opinion!!

Doctors normally just diagnose for depression and anxiety because the rest of the mental health issues can have overlaps and mimic other things so those need a psychiatrist many times to get a diagnoses

They can diagnose it but as it is not there area of specialty they may be wrong. Also if you wanna get help with the it or find if that's truly the case definitely seek out a Psych
