Anxiety about Doctor Appointments

Does anyone else have anxiety about making/keeping doctor appointments? I always feel like I'm bothering them😥 Or I make the appointment but the closer it gets to the appointment I cancel😥😥

I have that problem. I get so nervous that it will go wrong. Or I have to make a appointment about a problem I see and I feel like they won't see anything wrong

I am that way sometimes but then I think I make myself more sick with worry and reschedule the appointment and eventually go to it.

I always thought it was a mild form of agoraphobia because it isn't just doctors but all appointments and phone calls.

Crazyc1979 growing up it was like that. And then it changed last year in May. So I get that feeling every appointment.

I actually brought it this up with my therapist once. He said that’s his job, and I shouldn’t feel like I’m bothering him when I mention what bothers me (as long as it’s part of the therapy time of course). That really made me feel better

I don't feel like I'm bothering them, but making appointments does make me anxious. I don't love calling to them, and I guess they kinda feel like a lot of obligation. Instead of thinking about appointments as bothering them you might think about an appointment as keeping your doctor employed. If no one made appointments then they wouldn't have a job. Almost nobody becomes a doctor without really wanting to become a doctor, so not only are you giving them paid work, but it's work that they want to do and probably find to be really fulfilling.
