Anxiety Spikes Before My Period - Is This Normal?

Does anyone struggle with anxiety spiking worse around their cycle? I’ve been noticing a terrible spike in my anxiety a few days before my period and I’m not sure if this is normal or not.

I have many different conditions but anxiety is one of them. I often do experience worse symptoms around the beginning and near the end of my period. I think it's because we already have anxiety to start with but the anxiety over our periods and everything that comes with our period can overwhelm us easily. You are definitely not alone.

I have generalized anxiety and trichotillomania. Hormones definitely make my anxiety worse!! Hormonal birth control and the third trimester of pregnancy are horrible. I haven't had normal cycles in a while due to pregnancy and breastfeeding but my current task is paying attention to whether it fluctuates with my cycle. But definitely the hormonal birth control and increased hormones at the end of pregnancy make me so crazy.

I have pcos so my cycles have never been regular but I have noticed that when I'm not on progestin only pills so I can skip cycles, I'll get more irritable and anxious for the last couple weeks of my cycle. I get ovulation cramps so when that happens I know that I'm going to be feeling worse for the next couple weeks.

My everything gets worse! Everything is intensified! I noticed a day or so before my period is when the hormones really go wild. I think it has to do with estrogen. A low hormone birth control may help. Also certain foods can help. Look up foods to eat with PMS. Not saying you have pms but I do and that’s why everything is so intensified before my period.
