My journey to an ASD diagnosis

Being diagnosed with ASD was kind of scary. Growing up my mom was very, *very*, anti mental health awareness so I went undiagnosed until this year. I drove an hour away and the procedure itself took about 6 hours. My case was compiled in roughly a week. The doctor was very nice, and very understanding. It is a relief to know now that I am Autistic, as it has allowed me to better accommodate things for myself.

My husband and inlaws were my battle. I was diagnosed at 40. But my daughter suffered the most because of their ignorance. I fought from the time she was 3 to get her checked out, to no avail. I was labeled so many things from that family and when I was finally diagnosed, my brother in law used it against me. Now I am pulling out of that family and focusing on mine. That said, I cannot imagine my own mother being this person. I am happy for you and congratulate you on your journey! I hope you continue to find only more peace and comfort within your own skin💖
