Need advice on Ativan for panic attacks

I'm on Prozac 30mg but my panic attacks won't let up so my factor prescribed Ativan but I'm scared to take it. is anyone here on it that can tell me what's their experience with this medication?

I’ve had experience with it, and although I prefer a longer acting benzodiazepine when I do need them, it does work well! Also I am also on the exact same dose of Prozac, and switching to lexapro this weekend. I’ve been told that Prozac is a more activating SSRI, therefore not always the best for anxiety. I promise though as soon as you take it, you will feel better and that anxious thought of being scared to take it will subside. I know it’s hard, I’m very anxious about the switch from Prozac but I know it’s the right thing to do I wish you well! 🙏

The Prozac after many years doesn’t seem to be helping at all with my anxiety, also apparently it’s not the first choice for anxiety I was told due to the activating properties. So I was told it works better for people who may be depressed and can’t get out of bed, where for me, I’m not depressed I’m anxious and can barely stay in bed. I was also told that lexapro is a really good choice for woman with anxiety.

i’ve been on prozac off and on for several years (doses ranging 10-40mg) and have been prescribed ativan for about as long. i find it helpful for panic attacks/acute anxiety but it’s definitely not something to be taken daily but i’ve personally never had any adverse experiences. it generally just makes me really sleepy and spacey

@Nikkiluvbug Hi. I take Ativan and have taken it for years. I keep it in my purse in case I have a panic attack. I really like it. Takes the edge off and calms me down. It doesn’t totally knock me out just calming🤗
