How to Advocate for Yourself as an Autistic Person

every time I tell someone I’m autistic they don’t believe me or they say it must be a very “mild case”. I’ve been diagnosed for about a year but I’ve suspected autism for much longer. when I try to explain myself I just get frustrated and upset. how do I stand up for myself and help others to understand how I feel?

I have this same issue - Telling a person that even "mild" cases are still cases helps me. Another way (and the way I like to go with this situation) is explaining how even if it appears to be mild, Autism is still a very large spectrum, and there is no such thing as a "mild" or "severe" case - just different needs in different areas from person to person.

Also mild severe high and low... rude and hurtful you deserve people that want to understand you and its ok not to continue sending energy to the people that cannot or will not listen to how your mind and love languages work
