Barefoot or Socks: A Sensory Struggle for Autistic People

Are you the type of autistic that always has to be barefoot, or are you like me where you NEED TO BE wearing socks all the time. i hate my bare feet touching all the different textures:(

i need to be barefoot cause if i'm wearing socks and they get wet by a sink or something i can't stand it lol

I always need to be wearing crocs-- it gives me a barrier to the ground so I don't step in anything but also they're loose so I don't have to worry about them feeling overly tight like socks and shoes sometimes both get

I'm a sock lover but I can't wear them all the time. I guess I'm kind of in the middle. It also depends on the flooring.

I prefer no shoes unless I'm walking on gravel then I will wear shoes

I don't have an issue with bare feet but I prefer socks but I can only wear socks if they're short and smaller than my size and don't have very big seams

omg same with the socks lol I hate socks with big or thick seams and long socks so I just wear the ankle socks from the kids section because I'm a big kid size 3-6 in shoe size 😂

I cant wear socks at all unless I’m wearing shoes because if my feet are dry i cant stand the feeling of the fabric catching on my feet. But if i try to exfoliate i cry from how overwhelming it feels so i can’t win lol
