Worried about my upcoming autism assessment

I recently started talking to a new therapist and she referred me to a psychologist for an autism assessment. My assesment is at the end of the month and time is flying by. I'm ready for someone to finally understand me but I'm worried as hell that I'll get misunderstood.

It is always a risk but as long as you are prepared and willing to advocate for yourself, you should be more than fine. I am excited for you!

I’ve been there. I actually just got my diagnosis today! Don’t let imposter syndrome get you down. You know yourself better than anyone, and there’s a reason you’re getting evaluated. Just hang in there and try not to doubt yourself!

I was worried about the same thing. What I did was look up the diagnosis criteria in the DSM 5. I went through each thing that was listed and wrote in my notepad about how I'm experienced said symptom, how I still do and what I do to help it. Making sure everything was already there and organized helped me made sure I wasn't misunderstood
