Advice on getting diagnosed with autism

hi! i'm on the autism waiting list and i was just wondering what the process is like getting diagnosed? do they ask you questions or is it more like you are allowed to talk freely about why you think you have it? just any advice at all would be great about the sort of things to say and things to avoid saying would be great
