Should I Ask to Get Tested for Autism?

I had to switch psychiatrists because mine has been out since November and no one knows when he'll be back. I'm currently on a waiting list to meet with a new one. I'm thinking about asking to be tested for autism because I experience some symptoms of it and my brother (a nurse) told me it's very possible that I'm autistic. I hate eye contact, I stim constantly, I have a hard time reading people's intentions via their tone. should I ask to get tested or is it all in my head? (I'm 20 if that matters)

I think it's worth getting tested. It can't hurt to know

Its a generic paper form in most cases. Sometimes on the computer. But most tests are designed for boys. So if you happen to be female, it may not diagnose correctly. I can see if i can find the one test thats becoming more mainstream now, i can send it to you (they have an online one you can take before you go in and it guves a comprehensive result page, it lets you either send it to the psych office or print to take with you)
