Dealing with Mixed Emotions of a Possible Autoimmune Disease Diagnosis

Hey guys! My doctor thinks I might have an autoimmune disease. I'm both happy cause a doctor is finally paying attention and listening to me, but also this kinda sucks that my body doesn't work. For those dealing with something similar, how do you handle all these mixed emotions outside of therapy? (I am in therapy, just looking for more tips)

It’s unsettling to say the least. I was happy that people finally noticed, but it sucks that there’s something wrong in the first place. I’m still trying to figure out similar coping mechanisms. Having a nice support group of friends or family is very much needed. Being mindful of how’re you feeling really helps. Try not to let anything turn into anger. It’s not good :/

I make sure that I have something I can do everyday that makes me happy and keeps me mentally strong! Really helps stay positive during the chaos that is chronic illness 💛

Self care is really important. Especially on a more difficult day, remember that taking care of yourself is productive too! Communicate and respect your needs. Don’t feel lazy if you need more rest than the average person! Doing things to reduce stress will be good for your body and mind. Hang in there and know you are not alone 🥰
