Struggling with BPD and Bipolar 2, need advice on coping

Any tips on surviving bpd? It feels like I’m constantly in a state of feeling good and like I’ve got it together and then like I’m losing it all and I’m back at square one. They think I may have bipolar 2 aswell but I just can’t cope. I’m currently waiting for a bed in an inpatient mental health hospital for the 4th time and it just feels never ending. It feels like there’s a devil on my shoulder telling me “you’re not sick enough to recover yet” and “you need to get worse before you’re allowed to get better” but it feels like “sick enough” never comes. It’s never enough. It feels like that devil on my shoulder won’t stop till I’m dead and I fear it has full control over my mind. It just all kind of feels completely hopeless right now and like it’s not going to get any better now than it has over the past 4 years. Any tips on just i don’t know living with mental illness in general? Everything even down to waking up in the morning feels so hard now

DBT ....I did the 18 month course 3 times in the last 15years and it's the only reason I am alive and living a life worth living. I am clean and sober as well, so if substance abuse is an issue ( which 80% of us struggle with) you'll have to work on that first. I am 47, it's taken a long time but never give up. Get help and you can make your life worth while xx

I know it sounds cheesy to say "you're not alone" when you feel like you are alone in this, and that nobody gets it but usually the people closest to you wont get it and you feel like that because you still havent met everyone youre supposed to meet in your life yet. If you were the only one doctors wouldnt have patients or make a DSM5 where they diagnose people and research and meds for this wouldnt be a thing. I know the feeling deeply every single word I get it. Its like a rollercoaster of emotions all of the time from doing good feeling cured or better and then youre back to square one

I was diagnosed with BPD years ago but have since been rediagnosed as bipolar 2. I second DBT. I was never able to find a therapist so I just downloaded a workbook online and learned about it myself, and even that was so helpful for me and the loved ones I shared info with. There is a large set of skills that DBT teaches so there's sort of something for everyone. I also completely relate to thd feeling like you need to be sicker before you can get better. You start to see your mental illness as your whole identity when it becomes so rampant in your life. And then trying to get better feels like losing a huge chunk of yourself. Try to remind yourself that you are not your illness. And the real you deserves to live better.
