Tips for Calming Anxiety in Crowded Places

hi I was wondering if anyone has any I ideas on how to help calm anxiety down before it leads go a panic attack in crowded places

hey friend! one thing that really helps me is when i feel panic coming on i just get ice water in a bowl and stick my feet in it. it’s hard to do in public but when i’m able to i do, also the stress gummies by only help me a lot. and lastly peppermint oil has helped me too!! good luck :)

When I start getting anxious or depressed I usually try to take a shower, and then I just sing my lungs out I also suggest keeping noise canceling earbuds or head phones, spearmint or cinnamon gum, and stim toys, Stim toy wise, if you need to be quiet (like a play or a concert) I suggest a tangle toy Otherwise an infinity cube is my favorite

I have an anxiety pack I keep with me, it has stim toys, gum, noise canceling earbuds, and some scent tubes (I don’t know what they’re really called), and whatever meds I may need(mostly Tylenol and ibuprofen) I also try to keep a charger and power bank to kinda curb some of the anxiety before it starts

When I'm anxious in crowded places, my first thought is to find a pocket where there are less people. Sometimes I go to a bathroom, sometimes a corner, sometimes a bench. While there, I make sure to breathe deeply and slowly, focusing on my breaths. If I can't get to a pocket, I still do the breathing. I also sometimes count things around me - it gives me something to focus on other than the people.

I have "54321" exercise that helps me a lot. You take three deep breaths, then you find 5 things you can see around you. Three deep breaths and 4 things on or around you that you can touch. Three deep breaths, three things you can hear. Three deep breaths, two things you can smell. Three deep breaths, one thing you're able to taste. This helps focus all of your senses and allows you to slow everything down mentally and physically

My therapist has recommended to me counting things when I'm bored. That way when a panic attack comes around you count

Play puzzle games on phone, 3 things you ear, see, smell, touch, thoughts of being elsewhere, a breather in the restroom, ear buds.

I use toys (IE fidgets, stuffed animals, etc), food (chocolate or chips), music full blast, noise cancelling headphones (this work amazingly when paired with the music), I do draw (IE what I'm feeling, doesn't gotta be a character, maybe just blobs of color on phone, I use IBISpaintx), and I also go to a quiet place. In public it's hard but theres usually always a place in public with no one there or only two people. Walking in a circle has helped me, I also do stretches in the morning that has helped with my anxiety tremors. All these do not work 100% of the time, I give it maybe a 78-80% of the time depending on how bad the anxiety is. I also use an app called Daylio, it helps with recording your feelings. I don't have premium as I see it as useless but you can get premium if you'd like. All it does is open up more emojis and let's you get reminded more than twice a day. For me I'm fine with the limited emojis and limited reminders. Hopefully you find what helps you, wishing you the best 🤗
