Patience and understanding are the cornerstones of good care. If you don't have them, your loved one or client will believe you really don't care.

Find a way to not make the person feel as they are a burden. It’s natural to feel that way

Always ensure they have something to look forward to, everyday. Some activity, whether it is a walk, a TV show, a video game, or a kind of food they like. Whether they get it every day or not, at least they are looking forward to it. Make them feel as though they are contributing and cared about. Give them something they like to do, to do community service as that makes them feel like less of a drain on those around them

Make them feel heard, and validate our concerns. If we don't feel heard by the person whose job it is to care for us, we won't feel heard at all. Any concerns we might have, even though they might sound silly to others, are very real to us. Make us feel heard there, too. 😊
