Questions about Chronic Pain Management

Hi there! I have a couple of questions as I’m restructuring my pain journey :) 1. What has been your biggest pain reliever? (In or outside of medication) 2. Have you ever seen a holistic or functional medicine doctor? 3. Have you ever had experience with a doctor who specializes in fibromyalgia? What has your experience been like? 4. Have you found treatments like nerve blockers, epidural shots, trigger point injections, ablations, etc. useful? 5. Have you found yourself spending more and more $$$ on doctors and it being a waste of time or do you feel like you’re actually getting somewhere? Thanks :)

Hi! I could respond to this in a whole book, but I’ll try to keep it brief lol. - My biggest pain reliever is marijuana. Which i hate. But i found one way that works for me is getting it in patches and wearing it all day instead of smoking. Helps with the pain and doesn’t get you high. - I have seen a holistic and functional medicine doctor. Helped with gut stuff which does affect fibro side effects but if you have a normal functioning gut, i didn’t find anything else there helpful. - i went to the fibro specific doctors at Mayo Clinic. Learned nothing. Very disappointed. - i haven’t tried nerve blockers. Epidural shots last maybe two or three days then you’ll hurt again. Ablations are excessive, don’t do it. I’ve had 4. It’s a surgical procedure and won’t do much because fibro hits so many nerves that to ablate all of them it would mean you need to ablate like your entire body. Doesn’t work for this. - i found that all the money I’ve spent seeing doctors and specialists and Mayo Clinic were all a waste. Just my primary care physician controlling my medications is the only steady doctor i see anymore. And when it comes to wasting money, i spent a fortune on a Purple mattress and a pregnancy pillow and weighted blanket and Purple pillow and Purple seat cushion. It’s made a world of difference for me. The Purple mattress is a new breed of comfort. Especially for fibro. Trust me it’s worth it. I recommend it with all my heart. - lauren, (25) (fibro for two and a half years)

Medical Marijuana should not get you high. I use it and it just relaxes the body to a level of comfort. Unless it works differently for different people.

I am a male and hear this is rare in males. I must have spent thousands of dollars and 3 Years to have a doctor run all these tests and feel like they just gave up. The Lyrica and Cymbalta make me frustrated and tired
