Coffee Side Effects: What's Normal?

What kind of side effects do you personally get with coffee? I can’t tell what might be from the caffeine and what might not.

Can you help? Connect today

Sometimes I notice my anxiety increasing or overall jitters increase. There is this strange balance between drinking coffee to prevent migraines but also limiting the amount I drink to not make my migraines worse. Caffeine can cause and eliminate my migraines. When I started taking anxiety medication I made the mistake of drinking coffee (with a shot of expresso) and it caused heart palpitations that really freaked me out.

Thanks for responding!! I’m glad I’m not alone with coffee being a healer and root to my migraines, sometime I can’t tell with caffeine because I drink it so often.

Oo! This is one I can answer. I get palpitations really bad, and my heart races. I get nauseous, and nearly immediately after I drink caffeine I have an urgent need to use the restroom. About half the time I'll get an optical migraine or two that day. That all lasts for somewhere between 12 and 16 hours. Idk why I'm so sensitive to caffeine, but I'm really hoping Panera gave me the decaf I asked for this morning haha

Caffeine actually calms me down for some reason 😂 it helps my mental state and can pull me out of a panic attack. I guess I'm weird

hmmm... caffeine will sometimes make me sleepy but not calm. I wonder if it's based on genetics 🤔

that's common with some people with adhd, I know people that would get sleepy after drinking 2 mountain dews 😂

Caffeine is like poison to me...within the last few years. My body rejects it every time, even with tea or soda. I get nausea, shaking, use the bathroom a lot and weird pelvic pain

I mostly just get sleepy and it clams my very hyper mind for a short period of time

Can't drink it too late or it'll keep me up. What differences do others experience between a regular caffeine headache vs a migraine?

Coffee doesn’t work for me, I feel the crash more than I feel the caffeine rush, and it’s a laxative

It’s so strange, for me it’s like I’m addicted to caffeine but it almost always make me feel more anxious

I shake alot, but I used to use it to self medicate for low energy from depression and to help with adhd, it makes my anxiety more intense if I'm sitting still, it helps for finding motivation, but now I'm just addicted to monster energy drinks. I've always hated coffee, I used to drink hot chocolate to help fortify me for the day when I was young.
