Struggling with Communication Skills and Rejection Sensitivity

How do you know when to say what’s on your mind? I think that a mixture of how I was raised and my natural tendencies have created some unhelpful coping skills. I am nonverbal under stress, and didn’t learn great communication skills at home. I’m also multiply neurodivergent, and a slow processor of certain forms of information. My go-to has been to keep an eye on the calendar, not make any rash decisions if I’m in typically low mood-times, and also be careful not to trigger my rejection sensitivity. Which makes things hard, at least in terms of bringing things up when they happen. I tend to let things go as “minor issues” when they could be dealt with before they become major issues. I’m not happy being tied to my hormonal cycle in this way, because PMDD really only gives me a week of solid good moods out of the month. I can’t do it all during that time. Any tips or solidarity in this is welcome.

I try to throw out my boyfriend every month. I say lots of things that he thinks are random. I think it's hard to know when and how to communicate. I found reading articles on communication skills helped a little because it gave me a script to work off of.

This is so relatable. I might have undiagnosed ADD as well so I get the rejection sensitivity and going mute when overstimulated, and I hate how my energy levels are so bad the week before, during, and after my periods I agree it's like I get 1-2 good weeks a month. It takes everything just to maintain a really consistent daily routine to maintain the bare minimum when energy levels are low. I used to put things off and then try to get everything done in those good week windows but that left me feeling so exhausted and playing catch up every time, it's worth it to figure out lots of little ways to get through every single day and I try to start taking medications for the symptoms 2-3 days before my period even starts to make them less debilitating once it hits.

Omg my people! One functional week out of the month that you can't just enjoy feeling ok because too much to do and catch up on...
