Dealing with Constipation from Diabetes Medication

Has anyone else dealt with constipation with Ozempic or Victoza? While it helped my blood sugar and losing weight, it also caused me to have severe debilitating constipation. My doctor will no longer be prescribing any diabetic injectables due to the whole class of drugs possibly causing me constipation.

I have gastroparesis so I take motility which helps with number 2. But I have started to noticed that I am getting constipated and not as regular. Hope you can find something that helps.

I don’t have gastroparesis. I was just trying to lower my blood sugar and lose weight, but it’s causing me to lose weight because I’m so constipated that I’m not eating enough

Yeah, sadly while taking Victoza I'm very constipated almost all the time. For me though, it's been a blessing, mostly because I've had serious IBS for the majority of my life, so im never dealing with that kind of discomfort. It's like going from one extreme to the other. If the constipation is causing me too much discomfort, I eat or drink a diuretic, and that usually helps my bowel movements.

Different glp-1 drug but have had bouts of constipation on it.. Take a fiber supplement daily (generic benifiber or Metamucil) and that has seemed to do the trick
