Covid Recovery: Struggling with Balance?

My name is Missi, I'm 57 and had Covid at the end of 2020. I have many issues since having it. Brain fog, no taste or smell, fatigue and a few other things. one thing that I wasn't to ask is does anyone have problems with balance? I don't get dizzy, just off balanced.

Can you help? Connect today

I had the lack of balance problems prior to having Covid (Dec 2021) but it does seem to be more of a challenge since having Covid

I had issues myself pre- covid but extremely worse now. Hell, I can't even walk a staight line anymore. People probably think I'm drunk! Lol!

Yes, and I was diagnosed with a central balance system disorder called PPPD, or persistent perceptual postural dizziness (but even though it has the word “dizziness” in it, like you, that’s not something I experience). They diagnosed it with a test that is called an ENG (Electronystagmography) or VNG (Videonystagmography). I went to an ENT first who referred me to a neurologist for the test.

I thought it was just me! Ive noticed the past year (got covid christmas 2021) ive been falling over while standing or walking more often. Even when im laying down, i feel unbalanced. All of a sudden one of my legs will feel like it's been swept out from under me and im falling, yes, while laying down.

Oof, that sounds awful! Don’t worry, it’s not just you. I hope you’re able to get some testing done to figure out what’s going on!

I was diagnosed with BPPV in April and I also have a cyst on my pineal gland in my brain. I was perfectly healthy, got covid in August 2021 and health went downhill in April 2022. Not sure if this is long covid or not? But I have chronic fatigue, dizziness, off balance, numb fingers, brain fog and ear ringing

My lack of balance is as a result of what is currently being labeled "deconditioning". After a little research, I would call that fair. I spent nearly 6 weeks in bed in the spring of 2020 with COVID. I've never fully recovered. Lots of balance is definitely part of deconditioning.
