Seeking Advice on Possible Cushing's Diagnosis

I am on the path to a diagnosis of some sort, probably for Cushing’s. My weight is distributed heavily in my stomach, face, and back. I can’t lose weight except for when I am heavily restricting my food, which is unhealthy and I don’t want to do it. My mom and I have suspected that I have high cortisol and when I started looking into it literally everything matched up, down to the hump on my neck. When I went to the doctor I mentioned it because we had been trying to figure out why my blood pressure was 160/120 and never went below 130/100, and why I was having sleeping issues. He seems very convinced that I have Cushing’s and referred me to a specialist (who I have yet to see bc insurance sucks). Now that I’ve gotten to this point, I’m scared that it isn’t Cushing’s, and is rather me trying to find an excuse for why I am overweight. That and I’m scared to start back at square one. I’m having a lot of doubts about it. Any advice?
