Dealing with a Chronic Cough: Seeking Advice

I have been experiencing a sort of light cough for months now, my doctor has said it is either gastroesophageal reflux disease or post nasal drip. I do have a deviated septum and constantly annoyed stomach (pretty easily nauseous or even just a ton of acid reflux). I do want to try acid reducers for a while (not sure how long, but i know that when I have taken them it helps a ton!!) and the problem with having a deviated septum to cause post nasal drip is that nettie pots wont work usually, and on the deviated side saline spray doesn’t do much. I don’t necessarily want to go see an ENT or even a gastroenterologist because they might try to stick things up my nose or elsewhere which isn’t preferable. But should I? it’s getting to the point where when I get a cold or allergies the drip will last for weeks after, and then I get bad coughing fits from a tickle at the side of my throat. It isn’t really messing with my daily life when I don’t have a cold. I had one like a week or two ago and it settled in my sinuses and SUCKED, but I really am still not sure what I should get checked out or leave alone with all of my problems lately…much appreciated!!

I used to have issues with swallowing, sometimes I would start choking and have to make myself throw up. I finally went to a gastroenterology who diagnosed me with ? I can't remember the name, it's like worse than acid reflux but not as bad as Gerd. Anyway I started taken 2 nexium a day, now just taking one and my swallowing issue is gone. I also but the head of my bed up on blocks. Sometimes I cough or choke on absolutely nothing, I'll even wake up coughing. I do have sleep apnea but I also went to an ear, nose, and throat doctor who said I have post nasal drip and he prescribed Xyzal, an allergy med. That helps a lot. I ran out a few weeks ago and the coughing is back so I'm waiting on insurance to approve my refill. I recommend you see a gastroenterologist and/or an ear, nose, and throat doctor if you haven't already. You could try an antacid like nexium but your only supposed to take it for 14 days unless your doctor okays taking it longer.
