Dealing with Anxiety and Depression after Losing a Parent

I have been having anxiety & depression ever since my father passed away in 2018…to me it still feels recent. I never got help till 2021, I was resisting I didn’t wanna face that i needed help, it made me feel weak. Until my partner kept on pushing me to look for help because I was getting very angry all the time & arguing everything bothered me out of nowhere. I’m also a stay at home mom. So I decided I really needed to get help for me and also because I have to kids that depend on me. I got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, i have my psychiatrist and I also had taken counseling. I don’t have counseling anymore because I felt at the time I was doing better with grief and my emotions. Now….. my question is people that have anxiety tend to eat when feeling anxiety? I feel like when I have very bad anxiety I tend to over eat like binge eating and it’s the worst because I feel horrible afterwards. How can I control this? Does anyone else here go through this?

I eat when I get anxious sometimes too. It distracts me and I discovered it is actually an oral fixation. Is there something you can chew on in those moments? Gum maybe?

I’ll definitely try chewing gum then, see if that will help. Thank you! 💕
