Dealing with Auditory Processing Disorder in a Bush Environment

Hey all! Just joined the platform and been talking to some supportive people so far. I was diagnosed with auditory processing disorder when I was 6, 12 years ago. I was supposed to be referred to the hearing impaired team and given help in school but didn’t get the help I needed. I’ve heard you can now get hearing aids for it. I’m really anxious to talk to a doctor about this, it’s really affecting me working in a bush environment. I get into a lot of trouble at work and I can’t always lip read. How do you all manage APD?

I learned small amounts of sign language (I'm learning it in between flare ups), and asked people to slow down or speak up. I've also gotten in the habit of turning of music, the sink, or other noisy things while people are talking to me

that’s a good idea, I think it could be useful as I am autistic as well so it would help with direct communication if I’m anxious. I’ve been reffered to get Roger device now, which filters background noise. It’s because I’m going to uni and the funding body MIGHT fund them for me, we will see! 😊
