Dealing with Car Anxiety: Coping Skills Needed

Does any one else have really bad car anxiety? I usually only get anxiety when the car ride is more than like 45 minutes but sometimes it really takes over. The anxiety usually spiked from the fear of getting sick in the car and i often feel trapped. Any coping skills for dealing with anxiety/panic attacks in the car??

I get anxiety while driving and I'll play music, do breathing exercises, and focus on other things

I used to be anxious as a passenger in the car. If I was in the backseat I had to crane my neck around so I could always see what was in front of us. If I was driving, I was okay.

Normally, I get anxious is driving at night. My husband holds my hand or upper tight and plays my spiritual recharge playlist which Christian songs like Shoulders by For King and Country.

I get anxious whenever I drive at night or in bad conditions (raining, bad roads). What you’re describing sounds typical for CBT, which can teach you to cope with stressful moments

That’s me! My favorite thing to do is noise canceling headphones to control the noise of the road/ car and hydroxizine for the anxiety attacks

Hi, I do not have anxiety while driving, but I often experience anxiety in closed or small places. I try to take breaths, make myself a guided imagery and calm myself. I Hope this will help you too :)
