Dealing with CPTSD as an Autistic Person

Anyone else on the spectrum and have CPTSD? I'm struggling to come to terms with it and I'm wondering how others might have, and begun to dealt with it, what type of therapy helped and that type of thing.

I do! to be honest my journey so far has been long and I've made a lot of progress but at the same time im barely starting healing,,, I don't have much advice, but in terms of therapy styles I feel like Parts Work/Internal Family Systems is very helpful. I also recommend staying away from CBT because some of the practices ignore how trauma affects your thinking and emotions, when I was doing CBT it felt like I was just being told that I was delusional for having certain triggers. There are also aspects of DBT that can be helpful as well!

Thank you for this! I always get overwhelmed and never know where to start with things like this but even just having the names of some to look up- I almost started crying I'll be honest. I'm pretty sure I've been doing CBT for years, I just started when I was young and tried to go along with it so it's nice to know now that I can have some control over things. Thank you again!! hope you're having a good day :) 🐛🐛

I do and I wouldn't be surprised if it was extremely common. I feel like a lot of us have trauma from how people treated us for being different. Some of us in a way we didn't understand yet

For me the only things thats helped is creating new kinds of stimuli to replace the old. Its kinda like rewiring your neurons. Its really helped me to study the scientific side of how it works it makes me feel proactive

I do, I think a lot of it had to do with being undiagnosed and not fully understanding myself and why others treated me the way they did
