Dealing with Irrational Fears

does anyone else struggle with irrational fears? Stuff like scary folk tales and such. I know logically things like that can't hurt me or anything but I just can't shake the fear. it's so bad sometimes that I refuse to go out at night, especially by myself.

I'm not scared of vampires and stuff but I have a totally irrational sense that someone is creeping around/following me every time I leave my property line. I really don't leave the house after dark. It's so stupid, I know, but just b/c my brain knows that doesn't mean my body does.

I KNOW nothing is under the bed but if I wake up to my foot over the edge of the bed at night does it scare the crap out of me? Yes! Honestly I think a lot of mine stems from watching Signs as a 4 year old and not ever going to therapy for it lol. I still can’t watch that movie even though I’ve watched things like A Quiet Place that don’t haunt me. I think it also comes from my side that half believes inanimate objects are alive. I’m like “of course that balloon isn’t alive or capable of malice. Except for that very small chance that it is.”
